Associate Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Associate Teacher, working with children 6 weeks to 5 years old, will be responsible for providing an environment that is positive, individualized, and cohesive to learning and encourages fun through play and exploration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement curriculum and activities which promote stimulation, learning, and fun.
  • Create a warm, fun and nurturing environment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe classroom.
  • Participate in all activities with children.
  • Assist with activity planning and preparation of materials and supplies for daily use.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Update portfolios and provide support when needed.
  • Verify that parents are receiving correct information.
  • Foster positive communication with parents through in-person conversation and/or email.
  • Exhibit good judgment, maturity, and stability.
  • Assist in any classroom in order to be in ratio when needed.
  • Be highly mobile and physically able to easily engage in activities like standing for long periods, walking, bending, stooping, and sitting.
  • Offer support to the classroom teachers during the lunch time hour.
  • Provide customer-oriented service at all times by responding quickly to needs, smiling, being approachable and meeting commitments.
  • Support the goals and values of the Mayerson JCC and ECS.
  • Remain flexible in rapidly changing environment.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent a plus.
  • Maintain First Aid and CPR Certifications; Communicable Disease Training and Child Abuse Training.
  • Keep abreast of current research and practices in early childhood education, and attend related trainings, workshops, and conferences.
  • Attend mandatory professional development sessions, teacher meetings and family events.
  • Versed with various educational areas such as music, art, science, literacy, mathematics, language development and physical development.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.

Youth, Family, and Sports Programming Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Youth & Family Programming Assistant is responsible for aiding in the implementation and development of children and adult programming. This includes but is not limited to supporting sports and recreational leagues for children and adults, assisting, creating, and leading no-napper classes for Early Childhood School children, helping as a staff member of the after school program, and running birthday parties for children and guests. The hours will primarily be Monday-Friday from 1:00 pm to 7:30 pm with occasional Saturdays and frequent Sundays. The hours and schedule will change based on programming needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support and assist with sports and recreational leagues for children and adults on Sundays and weeknights.
  • Coach youth sports teams including soccer, basketball, baseball, and any other sport deemed necessary by the Sports and Recreation Director.
  • Assist, develop, and implement no-napper classes for the Early Childhood School children.
  • Act as an After Crew staff member by encouraging positive child development, and providing a safe and healthy environment for children of the after school program.
  • Plan and lead themed birthday parties, including pool, sports, science, or art parties for children and their guests.
  • Assist in duties with other JCC programs and departments.
  • Perform other duties not assigned, including administrative support for the JCC.

POSITION SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Experience working with youth and adult populations preferred
  • Knowledge of sport leagues and their rules
  • Comfortable leading activities for youth of all ages
  • Takes initiative in developing and implementing new programs
  • Ability to be flexible in an ever-changing environment
  • Strong listening skills and an understanding of adolescents
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills

Lifeguard

POSITION SUMMARY:

Ensure a safe facility and pool for the members under supervision of the pool manager. Maintain current Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid certifications
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets, acknowledges, & engages with members
  • Provide Surveillance for members in the water
  • Foster safe environment out of the pool and in the facility
  • Utilize training and customer service skills to educate members on rules and policies
  • Effectively respond to emergency situations in a timely manner
  • Perform routine facility cleaning and upkeep as instructed by manager
  • Any other assigned tasks similar in nature by facility manager/supervisor
  • Be able to complete fitness swims and other necessary tasks of lifeguard certification

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Starguard Institute Certified Lifeguard or alternate certification by Aquatic Safety Director
  • Must attend continuous training opportunities offered by SwimSafe.
  • Must be at least 15 years of age
  • Customer service experience preferred

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Positions in this class typically require: walking, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Medium Work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Bus Driver

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Meals on Wheels manager: Drives the Meals on Wheels vehicles to specified locations along predetermined routes. Packages and delivers meals, provides transportation as needed and assists with other tasks as assigned. Responsible for the proper completion of all paperwork for the position or the tasks that are being completed on a daily basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure prompt delivery of meals
  • Clean and sanitize all Meals on Wheels area including tables and insulated meal bags on a daily basis before packing routes each day
  • Package routes for volunteers and then employees. Pack in thermal blankets or thermal bags with ice packs on the meals
  • Ensure and document that meals are kept in a safe temperature range
  • Greet clients in a pleasant and friendly manner
  • Unpack, put away or heat up meals if requested by the consumer or care manager
  • Contact the supervisor if anything is out of the ordinary
  • Maintain and return all paperwork including but not limited to route sheets, temperature sheets, menus, mileage logs, client payments or donations and any unclaimed meals to the center and notify supervisor if unable to deliver all assigned meals
  • Provide transportation only to members as assigned by the Meals on Wheels or Transportation Manager

POSITION SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Ohio Driver License, current automobile insurance and a clean DMV record
  • Valid CDL (Commercial Drivers License) with Class B passenger endorsement preferred
  • Ability to perform minor or routine maintenance (such as changing wiper blades or flat tires) on small commercial vehicles, and to identify vehicle problems and malfunctions
  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations governing the operation of a commercial passenger vehicle.
  • Ability to read and write with good communication skills and the ability to relate with seniors an staff
  • Be a team player and have a pleasant and cooperative attitude
  • Ability to cope under pressure and with emergency situations
  • Ability to follow established procedures
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds.
  • Be able to pass drug, alcohol and background checks and have a have a doctor provide documentation that you are in good health and able to perform the duties of the position
