Under One Roof: The Art of Conversation
On Display: October 13 – October 24
Art Reception: October 17; 6pm
Step out into the Mayerson JCC courtyard and inside our 1,300-square-foot installation highlighting the works of art created by organizations, agencies and community groups from across the city.
Thousands of people – agencies, schools, and individuals in our community – visit the sukkah and all are engaged and inspired. Make and view these large multimedia fabric panels exploring this year’s theme, The Art of Conversation, on display to celebrate the festival of Sukkot.* Don’t miss the Art Reception on October 17! Come enjoy an evening of community, conversation, art, music, and appetizers in the Sukkah, with the creators of each panel!
New this year! Be a part of the art by contributing to the community panel! We invite everyone to participate in the exhibit this year. Stop by the JCC after August 1 to lend your hand and add your voice to the community art exhibit.
*Sukkot, a Hebrew word meaning “booths”, is the Jewish festival of giving thanks for the fall harvest. It also commemorates the 40 years of the Israelites wandering in the desert after Sinai. Today, one way to celebrate Sukkot is to build a special temporary hut (sukkah) outside one’s home. It is traditional to welcome guests into one’s sukkah to share a meal and socialize.
